Amanda Lockie, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
My name is Amanda Lockie, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I have 17 years of experience in the social work field, including 4 years in clinical therapy practice. I approach therapy from a somatic experiences focus, connecting mind-body responses to facilitate healing. My approach I am a Brainspotting therapist, helping you find an eye position that connects to the issue or concern being addressed, allowing the brain and body to process emotions for healing. I also incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) concepts to support values-based action, along with ND-friendly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills for emotional regulation. My focus I connect well with adults experiencing burnout, feeling overwhelmed by work, parenting, health changes, or life in general. I am sensitive to sensory overwhelm and understand the needs of highly sensitive individuals. My communication style I communicate with compassion and directness, offering support while also challenging unhelpful beliefs when appropriate. My journey to therapy I initially wanted to be a preschool teacher as a young, energetic college student but quickly realized that managing large groups of little kids was challenging. I transitioned to casework, helping families access community services and supporting foster adolescents transitioning to adulthood. During my master’s internship, I worked with hospice clients and their families, gaining experience in medical social work, end-of-life transitions, grief, and chronic illness across the lifespan. After becoming licensed, I discovered my passion for therapy—one-on-one relationships are where I thrive. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to be my own boss. My goals for you I conduct a thorough intake process to help clients set clear treatment plans and goals, regularly reassessing progress using clear data to support improvements.
