I strive to create a relaxed, supportive, and positive space for my clients during counseling. I know disclosing personal information can be tough, so I show respect, honesty, compassion, and non-judgmental listening. My goal is to make sure my clients feel heard, understood, supported, and gain valuable insights. I have 25 years of experience working with kids, teens, and adults in various settings such as outpatient clinics, home and community environments, schools, psychiatric hospitals, and primary care offices. While I specialize in trauma counseling, I also work with many clients experiencing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, intrusive thoughts, and more. As a trauma therapist, I work with clients experiencing past or present trauma. My expertise includes various forms of trauma, such as sexual, physical, emotional abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulting from war, natural disasters, and unresolved grief. I hold certifications in Somatic Trauma Counseling and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I earned my Master's degree in Professional and School Counseling from Carlow University and my Bachelor's degree from La Roche University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am genuine, empathetic, and positive. Clients have mentioned that I am very easy to talk to and feel comfortable sharing things with me. Sometimes, I will challenge you and assign homework, while other times, you may just need someone to listen and validate your feelings.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’re accepting new clients! My private practice at MK Counseling Services has counselors available in the morning, afternoon, and evening (both in-person and telehealth). Our location at 135 Cumberland Rd, Suite 102 Pittsburgh, PA 15237 has free and plenty of parking (handicap accessibility). The office building is quiet and private for those who prefer a more discreet setting.

After each session, I will submit the claim to your insurance company to be processed. Once your insurance has processed your claim, you will be notified if you have a copay or deductible. At that time, I will charge the authorized credit card you have added to your client file (through the secure online client portal).
