Getting to know Amanda Muniz

Therapy is not about changing who you are. It is about creating a space where you can better understand yourself, grow, and move toward the life you want. As a mental health counselor, I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself and exploring the experiences that may be affecting your well-being. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, life transitions, boundary difficulties, and emotional overwhelm. My work is collaborative and individualized, with the goal of helping you develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and healthier ways of navigating life. I am certified in Women’s Mental Health and am particularly passionate about supporting women as they navigate their mental health, identity, self-worth, relationships, and major life transitions. I have a special interest in working with women during the prenatal and postpartum periods, as well as supporting those navigating the emotional and psychological challenges that may accompany PCOS, including body image concerns, self-esteem, stress, and the impact of health challenges on overall well-being. I also enjoy working with teens and young adults as they transition from high school into college, the workforce, or other postsecondary pathways, supporting them as they navigate identity, independence, relationships, academic and career decisions, and uncertainty about the future. Whether you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or simply ready for something to change, therapy can provide a space to slow down, gain perspective, and move forward. I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling understood and supported, and I am committed to meeting each client where they are while helping them move toward greater self-understanding, resilience, and fulfillment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You do not have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to provide support, perspective, and guidance as we navigate your concerns together. I take the time to understand your unique experiences and meet you where you are, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I strive to make therapy a space where you can be honest, ask questions, and explore difficult topics without judgment. Whether you are working through a specific challenge or simply feel like something in your life needs to change, we will work together at a pace that feels comfortable while building greater self-awareness, confidence, and healthy coping skills.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I begin by getting to know you, learning about what brought you to therapy, and understanding your current experiences, concerns, and goals. Our initial sessions are an opportunity for us to build rapport, identify areas you would like to work on, and develop a direction for our work together. As therapy progresses, sessions provide a space to explore thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences while developing practical strategies that can support you outside of therapy. We may work on recognizing patterns, processing difficult experiences, strengthening coping skills, improving communication and boundaries, and building confidence. I regularly check in about your progress and adjust our focus as your needs and goals evolve. My goal is for therapy to be a collaborative process where you feel supported and actively involved in your growth.
