Getting to know Amanda Potter

***Please note this provider uses platforms called Sessions Health and Headway to manage their practice. After booking, you will need to set up account(s) with Sessions Health and/or Headway to confirm your appointment. By providing your phone number and/or email address during booking, you agree to receive communications via e-mail, phone call, and/or text message from or on behalf of Sessions Health, Headway, and/or this provider about your appointment, registration, insurance and payment information, and treatment.*** Hello and welcome. I have been practicing psychotherapy since 2015 and have developed expertise in healing trauma and the wounds of childhood that show up in adult relationships today. I hold a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Smith College. I belong to a cohort of clinicians learning Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, seek regular consultation, and meet with like-valued White clinicians doing the life-long work of cultivating liberation-centered practice.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I show up to sessions with warmth, curiosity and trust. I work with you to create new experiences within our session that can become resources for you outside of session. In constant collaboration, we create a therapy for you that challenges you to grow at the pace just right for your system. People I work with leave sessions with more clarity, access to strengths, and greater capacity for their day-to-day living.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Length of sessions and scheduling: Returning sessions are 55 minutes. Your first appointment may be longer. Please plan for 55-75 minutes when scheduling your first appointment. Initial paperwork: I will send first-time forms to you soon after you book. You will have access to these through a secure portal. Please complete these as soon as possible before our scheduled appointment so that I can review them beforehand. There is one form that can be a lengthy exercise for self-reflection (or self-reporting) if you choose to use it as one. Relatively few sections are required. If using insurance: In order to increase access to therapy services in our community, I now accept Aetna insurance through my work with Headway. Headway manages this part of my practice. If using your insurance, you will need to sign up with Headway to confirm your appointment. This relationship with Headway is new. If you are using your insurance, I welcome your perspective and feedback about your experience with this new partner.

Late cancellation and no-show fees: Please remember to cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance. Cancellations and rescheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge ($150) if not received at least 24 hours in advance. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time. Late cancellation and no-show fees are your responsibility. Insurance does not cover these fees. Late cancellation and no-show fees are collected through Venmo. If using insurance: In order to increase access to therapy services in our community, I now accept Aetna insurance through my work with Headway. Headway manages all of these charges. This relationship with Headway is new. If you are using your insurance, I welcome your perspective and feedback about your experience with this new partner. Self-pay / cash-pay / out-of-pocket / out-of-network: All fees for cash-pay services are paid through Venmo, which also applies if you are seeking reimbursement through your out-of-network (OON) benefits. If you have an HSA debit card, you can connect that card to your Venmo account.
