My name is Amanda, I am an Iowa Licensed Mental Health Counselor, (LMHC) and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider (PMH-C). I have worked in the mental health field since 2010 with youth, adolescents, college students and adults. I have worked in residential treatment, community mental health, school settings, and also via tele-health. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy and is also Perinatal Mental Health Certified. I am experienced in treating a variety of mental health concerns including mood disorders, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, time and stress management, low self-esteem, and challenges in relationships. I use a person-centered approach to remain present with my clients and determine the specific area of focus and treatment options that feels more beneficial for them. I also utilize a strengths-based and solution focused therapy style in which positive psychology components are also utilized. As part of my work with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, I often incorporate mindfulness and a wellness model of mind-body-spirit connection. I adhere to the American Counseling Association and the American Mental Health Counselors Association Ethical Codes.
