“Amanda goes above and beyond. If a day or time didn’t work best she’d try and make it work with another option. She cares so much about her clients and creates such a caring and judge free environment. I know people who felt judged with other therapists and I never once felt this way with Amanda. She really cares about her work and clients. I’m so grateful to have found her. She has helped me so much with my postpartum anxiety and I’m so thankful for that! ”

Getting to know Amanda Urato

****Please be advised that this practice uses Headway. You will be receiving crucial paperwork which needs to be completed before the appointment so that the practice can formally schedule the appointment. Please call the practice if you have any questions.**** My education includes a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley University. Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from all walks of life, across a variety of settings, including in-home, residential, group home, psychiatric hospital, and outpatient environments. I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal and create meaningful change, even when the process feels challenging or uncomfortable. As humans, we are inherently resilient, and I feel truly honored to witness the profound transformation and personal growth of the people I work with.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach therapy from a strength-based and person-centered framework, viewing each individual as the expert on their own experience. My work is holistic and tailored to each person’s unique needs, drawing from evidence-based approaches such as ACT, CBT, DBT, and Expressive Arts Therapy. I have experience supporting individuals navigating interpersonal and intrapersonal challenges related to trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, acute and chronic mental health conditions, and LGBTQ+ identities.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is really about helping you get acquainted with the therapeutic process, including what to expect in future sessions and the emotions that may arise along the way. My primary focus is on building rapport and creating a safe, trusting foundation from which more vulnerable and challenging topics can be explored and processed.
