Amber Burchett, LPC

Psychotherapist
IL
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a subspecialty in substance use issues. I have 10+ years of experience in the field and have been in private practice for seven years. I have worked in a variety of settings throughout my career, from residential programs to outpatient settings, assisting adolescents and adults. I have also worked with individuals struggling with mood disorders, substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma, anger management, personality disorders, and neurodivergence. No matter how big or small you may feel your challenges are, I believe they are all equally important and I am dedicated to helping you feel safe as you navigate this roller coaster we call life. During my graduate program at Benedictine University, I learned the importance of strong therapeutic rapport and understand that feeling supported, understood, and free of judgement can help clients move toward a more congruent and fulfilling life. I take an integrative and holistic approach to therapy, which is tailored to your individual needs. I often incorporate Rogerian, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and solution focused therapy into my sessions. I also believe animals can be a great source of comfort and have seen this firsthand when I volunteered with PAWWs, a non-profit program that trains dogs in supporting veterans navigating PTSD and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). I will help you identify who you are, build on your strengths instead of focusing on your weaknesses, and get you back to feeling like you again.
