Amber Callaway, LPC

Psychotherapist
AR
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Warren, Arkansas, with 12 years of experience. I work with clients statewide via telehealth, serving both adolescents and adults. I specialize in depression, anxiety/stress, communication and relationship issues, and self-esteem, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, and Mindfulness approaches. My approach to therapy depends on the specific needs of each individual I meet with. I more frequently utilize Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused therapy approaches. I believe that a large percentage of success in therapy is related to the client/therapist relationship, so building that connection is my first priority in the early sessions. I have the most experience working with adolescents and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, relationship conflict, and communication challenges. My focus is on finding strengths and building on those, along with developing healthy coping skills and managing negative cognitions. I present with a calm, encouraging, and person-centered communication style. I often use humor, believing that laughter is good for the soul. My goal is for clients to feel more encouraged after each session. Before becoming a counselor, I was a math teacher for almost 10 years, teaching junior and senior high students. During that time, I saw the emotional needs of my students and recognized the importance of having someone who would genuinely listen. As a teacher, you cannot always provide the communication and emotional support needed in the classroom setting, and I wanted to do more for them.
