Amber Graham, MA

Psychotherapist
1811 W North Ave, Ste 402, Chicago, IL
Hi, my name is Amber. I became a therapist through my own journey of self-discovery and healing. As a Queer and Trans woman, I know the challenges of searching for a space where you feel truly seen and valued as your whole self. Getting to know people as they grow into themselves and building a genuine connection with each is some of the most meaningful work I have had the opportunity to do. It takes courage to share our struggles and inner experiences, and I strive to honor that courage by building genuine, trusting relationships with my clients. It is a privilege to walk alongside those as they navigate vulnerability, growth, and change. I believe meaningful healing happens through a strong therapeutic connection. When people feel safe to explore themselves fully, they can reconnect with their voice, clarify what matters most to them, and develop tools to thrive. My hope is to provide you with a place to begin that journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adolescents, emerging adults, and adults from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Many of the clients I see are navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, relational challenges, and stress. I also work with clients on developing emotional regulation skills and building healthy, sustainable boundaries in both platonic and romantic relationships. I am sex positive and affirming of all relationship structures. I am especially passionate about supporting clients as they explore identity, values, and what it means to live more authentically. This often includes working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community around gender identity and sexuality. I also support individuals through major life transitions such as preparing for college, navigating career changes, or entering the workforce with particular emphasis to the needs of first generation college students.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship rooted in authenticity, trust, and collaboration. Our sessions are intended to feel like a refuge where you feel safe to be vulnerable, while also allowing for moments of joy and laughter. You can expect patience, compassion, and validation as we explore your experiences and work toward greater alignment with your values. I prioritize honoring all of the intersecting parts of who you are through trauma-informed care and identity-affirming practices. I frequently use interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with a multicultural lens. Together, we’ll work to grow your confidence, resilience, and compassion, empowering you to move through the world with ease.
