Dr. Amber Norwood, PhD

Psychotherapist
PA
I'm Dr. Amber Norwood, a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania with a PhD in Human Services Psychology from the University of Maryland. I'm glad you're here. Choosing to pursue therapy shows your commitment to wellness and willingness to do the work. You have many responsibilities and likely wear many hats, so therapy should be accessible, effective, and meaningful. I work through a teletherapy-only practice, allowing you to participate from any quiet, confidential space. I strive to create an affirming, safe environment for individuals from all walks of life and welcome clients of all income levels, abilities, gender identities, faiths, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. In our work together, I will listen and get to know you, your history, values, and goals. My clinical expertise is in treating adults across the lifespan, focusing on life transitions and self-compassion, anxiety, depression, anger management, health behavior change (e.g., substance use, weight, health management), and general health concerns like coping with new medical diagnoses, caregiving, disease prevention, medical and psychiatric dual diagnoses, infertility, family planning, aging, illness anxiety, and other health-related challenges. My treatment approaches draw from acceptance-based modalities such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and compassion-focused therapy (CFT). I also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills when appropriate. Therapy is most effective when tailored to each client's goals and values. These methods help you make clear, focused changes toward a more connected, healthy way of living.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
