What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often tell me they appreciate that therapy with me feels both genuine and focused. My style is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I’ll listen carefully and help you slow down, reflect, and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. I believe people heal and grow best when they feel safe, respected, and understood, so I work to create a space where you can be honest without fear of judgment. I’m not a silent observer, and I don’t believe therapy should drag on without direction. I’ll offer feedback, gentle challenges, and practical tools that you can apply between sessions. Together, we’ll look at patterns in your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, exploring how they developed and how to change what’s no longer serving you. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR for trauma, and the Gottman Method for couples work. My approach is flexible and tailored. You might spend one session learning grounding techniques and the next uncovering deeper emotional themes or attachment patterns. I’ll meet you where you are, and we’ll move at a pace that feels manageable but meaningful. For couples, I focus on helping both partners feel heard and respected while learning skills to repair trust, manage conflict, and build connection. For individuals, we’ll work toward understanding yourself more fully and aligning your daily life with your values and goals. You don’t have to come to therapy knowing exactly what to say. My role is to guide the process, help you gain clarity, and support you in creating real, lasting change. Progress doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistency and openness, it absolutely happens and I’ll be in it with you every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, my goal is to help you feel comfortable and understood not analyzed or rushed. We’ll start by talking about what brings you in, what’s been hard lately, and what you hope to get out of therapy. I’ll ask questions to understand your history, current stressors, and patterns that might be affecting how you think, feel, and connect with others. From there, we’ll set clear, collaborative goals so therapy feels focused and purposeful. In ongoing sessions, you can expect a balance of conversation, reflection, and practical tools. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build emotional regulation and mindfulness skills. For clients processing trauma or difficult experiences, I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help the brain and body heal more deeply, not just intellectually. With couples, I use Gottman Method interventions to help partners rebuild trust, improve communication, and manage conflict without defensiveness or disconnection. You’ll learn concrete strategies that make a real difference outside of session. My approach is active, compassionate, and collaborative. I’ll listen closely, offer honest feedback, and teach skills that fit your unique situation. Sessions are a mix of insight and action-sometimes deep and reflective, sometimes skill-based and practical—depending on what’s most helpful that day. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or past trauma, therapy is a space to understand yourself more fully and make meaningful changes that last. You don’t have to do this alone, and I’d be honored to help you get started.
