“Had my first session with Ms. Ameta and it was very authentic and encouraging. She allowed me to freely tell her about myself and the things that have brought me to the point of seeking therapy. Just being able to vent was theraputic in and of itself as she was very warm and attentive. I like how self-sufficient her approaches to therapy are, and as this was my first experience with therapy I look forward to more sessions with her!”

Getting to know Ameta Jasper

My passion for mental health has shaped my work with individuals, families, and communities across a variety of settings. Over the years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with clients to enhance their well-being, drawing on my experience across diverse settings, including hospital Emergency Departments, psychiatric units, community organizations, and mental health agencies. My professional journey includes supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, assisting those facing mental illness, and working with people who have experienced homelessness and hopelessness. I have also provided both individual and group therapy within clinical settings. Counseling Philosophy - I believe meaningful change comes through collaboration and intentional effort. Clients are the experts in their own lives and are encouraged to actively engage in the process. Together, we identify key goals and work toward steady progress. My approach focuses on building self-awareness and resilience, ensuring each client feels heard, understood, and supported. Commitment to Client Autonomy - What distinguishes my counseling style is a steadfast commitment to honoring each client's autonomy. For example, I have worked with clients who struggle with anxiety and self-doubt. By collaborating closely, we identify the client's unique strengths and develop practical coping strategies tailored to their needs. As clients move through this process, they gradually regain their confidence and begin taking meaningful steps toward their desired outcomes. This experience reinforced for me the importance and effectiveness of a supportive, empowering therapeutic alliance. In every interaction, my focus is on achieving the best possible results and facilitating lasting, positive change.

I feel comfortable with her. At my age I thought I certainly should have resolved all of my issues . However, one in particular has still bothered Me. She has offered helpful suggestions.
Ameta has become such a safe space for me no matter the situation she listens and gives effective feedback. She has such a warm personality and is extremely empowering as a woman and just a person in society!
