“I've been through several therapists in Detroit and Michigan more generally. Ami does her job well from getting to know who I am, asking insightful questions, and making me feel welcome. She's easy to talk to, and I feel she cares about me. Ami has helped me deal through the grief of the death of my youngest. I've been very depressed. Ami helped me pull away from some negative thoughts and stay focused on the present. I recommend her for therapy. ”

Getting to know Ami Susewitz

Hi, I’m Ami. I’m a licensed therapist, a mom, and someone who truly gets how overwhelming life can feel—especially during big transitions like pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. I’ve spent the past 8 years supporting individuals and families through anxiety, depression, trauma, and the emotional ups and downs that come with motherhood. I’m especially passionate about working with women in the perinatal season—whether you’re pregnant, newly postpartum, or just feeling like yourself again feels... far away.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT and trauma-informed care, while tailoring each session to what feels most helpful for you. Together, we’ll process what you’re going through, gently challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and build practical tools you can use in everyday life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you—your story, your current challenges, and your goals. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the path forward.

A+, thanks to Ami for being incredibly attentive and professional. She has been a HUGE help through many difficult times
Good therapist for anxiety in Michigan, always kind and considerate, she's helped with many of my concerns
Ami is a great therapist. I wasn't sure therapy was for me before I met her, now I know it is

What can I say more about Ami? She is the therapist to beat on zocdoc as far as I'm concerned. She has helped me dramatically with anxiety, depression, body dismorphia, and ADHD, to name a few. I can honestly say I don't think I would have made it this far without her.
Long time patient and would love to leave a review for Ami. Ami is not only an insightful listener but also an expert at providing advice. I entered therapy for anxiety around a new job and moving situation in Michigan. Ami helped me come out of my shell. Without her help I never would have found my new friend group or new BF. Book Ami if you can get a spot!
I have a bad track record with therapists and have been out of therapy for a number of reasons for some time. I am blessed to have found Ami when I did. She helped pull me out of a dark corner of depression + body dismorphia. Very easy to talk to, would highly recommend her if you're in Michigan.
I began seeing Ami for anxiety and depressions several months ago. She has been simply great. I thank God our paths crossed. Each session helps me better understand myself and apply lessons throughout my day. Go see Ami!
