Hello, I'm Amirah. Nowadays, world events have more impact on our individual lives than in the past. Despite the desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle balance, these situations, such as global pandemics, have made it more difficult. In 2002, I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Master of Arts in Counseling. As a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), I worked with community agencies and state correctional departments in both Texas and Arizona. I have been working in private practice for 13 years. I work with clients to address various life concerns and focus on trauma, attachment, PTSD, parenting skills, anxiety, and depression. In 2016, I became rostered in Child-Parent Psychotherapy and provide specialized treatment to young children and their families. I am also a registered clinical supervisor and provide supervision and consultation to clinicians seeking independent licensure. I use an integrative approach to therapy with clients to help them to reflect on their life experiences for emotional awareness and to learn how these emotions shape behavior and communication. Through this process, you will gain more insight and practical tools to make life improvements and strengthen interpersonal connections. I commit to maintaining an environment that will progressively create a more open and secure relationship with my clients.
