Getting to know Amy Burlison

I bring 20 years of experience in the area of crisis, urgent and general counseling and am skilled in most mental health areas. I work with all ages serving individuals, families, couples and groups. After an initial assessment we will identify your top stressors that interfere with your life and happiness and identify effective coping skills and supports to adequately move forward to experience relief from debilitating symptoms and heartfelt forward progress.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I prefer to use person focused therapy which works in the here and now. This approach meets you where you are at and builds momentum from there. We will also address past traumas and memories as you are ready and able and establish future goals. This will be at your pace as you are able and willing as to not interfere with day-to-day life tasks and demands. We work hard to make progress and take breaks to self soothe and relax as needed.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will do a thorough assessment during the first appointment and second if needed. We will regularly set goals and ensure they are being met as well as identify effective coping skills and supports. Our final goal will be your ability to work through life stressors independently as you learn effective application of skills and touch back whenever needed
