Getting to know Amy Donahue

Hello, I'm Amy. With twenty years of experience in drug/alcohol and mental health counseling, I've had the privilege of working in a variety of settings, including corrections, community mental health facilities, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Adult Drug Court, Juvenile Drug Court, and opiate addiction and detox facilities. I've also served as a lead counselor and a facility's Clinical Manager. Additionally, I am an EMDR-trained therapist, specializing in trauma, anxiety, depression, and family therapy. My theoretical orientation is psychoanalytic, which means I believe that our unconscious conflicts and feelings can significantly impact our well-being and relationships. What should a new client know about working with you?

Person Centered approach, you are the one in control. My ideal client is someone who is ready to work with me to experience your healing, meaning and purpose. You are in control, and you will do the work, I am your guide.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I was drawn to becoming a provider after going through my own sets of setbacks. Therapy helped me tremendously and I want to help others receive the same gift. Together we will identify your goals for treatment and reevaluate, change or continue on the path we are on. The first session, I will ask a series of questions, gather your history, find out what brought you to therapy, identify your goals and create a plan as well as begin to build a rapport with you.
