Amy Duane, LCSW

Amy Duane, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California and in the state of Arizona. I have extensive experience working with various populations of all ages: I spent many years focused on the psychology of child development and challenges faced in teenage years and adulthood. I have expertise in working with people struggling with anxiety disorders, specifically selective mutism and social anxiety. I have also worked with patients with chronic mental illness in a day treatment program. In addition, I have worked extensively with aging and independence issues and bereavement and grief counseling. I am a firm believer in short-term, solution-based therapy when appropriate: I often integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Short Term Psychodynamic therapy (although I customize my practice based on a client's needs). I believe in teaching coping skills while using Positive Psychotherapy to help the client use their own strengths to overcome difficulties. My approach I've been in this field for over 30 years, and I would say that I have an eclectic approach. I have learned that because each client is unique, my technique of choice is catered to each individual. My clinical approach is often a combination of Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and/or Solution-Focused Therapy. My focus I typically work with clients with anxiety disorders: specifically, selective mutism, social anxiety and generalized anxiety, depression, aging and geriatric Issues, caregiver issues and stress, codependency, dependent personality, hospice and end-of-life counseling, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and Women's Issues. My communication style I want my clients to feel heard, understood, and supported. I am observant, compassionate, and nonjudgmental.
