“The session with this provider was great, but I’ve had a terrible experience with the person or agency who books their appointments. They booked my second appointment with a different provider and I was later notified (via text when I specifically asked that they email me because I wouldn’t have cell service for some days due to change in location. When I texted back a few days later upon my return, I never received a response to my text requesting a rescheduled (granted, I was already frustrated that it wasn’t rescheduled) and I unfortunately don’t have a way to reach the provider directly as it seems the number available on zocdoc is to the person/agency who schedule the appointments. - S.A.”

Getting to know Amy Jones

My name is Amy Lucia Jones, LCSW. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Marywood College. I have experience addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, trauma, relationship concerns, anger management, and loss. I am trained in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Skills, Trauma Informed Care, and a wide range of other modalities. My treatment style is eclectic, utilizing a broad spectrum of various styles and skills. I enjoy working with clients ages 13 and up, including individuals and couples. I am also LGBTQ+-affirming.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use a wide range of skills, most based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I am also trained in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, Sexual Abuse Treatment, and other modalities. I prefer to meet clients where they are and develop my treatment around a person's individual needs and desired outcome. My focus I work with teenagers, adults, and couples. I have provided treatment for Anger Management, Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence, Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, and others. I am very comfortable dealing with all of the above, as well as some lesser-known conditions. My communication style I will try to build a therapeutic relationship by asking open-ended questions, offering reassurances regarding HIPAA, and providing a judgment-free setting, where people can feel comfortable talking about anything and everything that brings them to therapy. I have been told that I am affirming and kind, as well as empathic, understanding, and supportive.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to meet a client where they are when they come into therapy. I approach goal setting by using open-ended questions to find out what treatment modality would be the most effective, discussing this with the person, and asking for feedback about their comfortability in utilizing what I think would be helpful. My first session with you Clients should expect a judgment-free zone, and I reassure them that they do not need to talk about all of their concerns, experiences, or trauma in the first session. I ask for the basic information I need to have, to remain in compliance with my licensure, and attempt to provide a comforting place for a person to feel safe.
