Amy Kelly, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CT
Hi there, I'm Amy! My name is Amy Kelly, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in New Haven County, CT, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master's in Social Work from New York University. I work with adults and specialize in stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and adjustment disorder, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution Focused Therapy to help my clients work toward feeling better. My approach My approach varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution Focused Therapy to assist me in understanding the client's current needs and emotional distress, allowing us to create a plan moving forward. My focus I typically work with young adults and older adults who may be dealing with life changes, loss, or overall life challenges. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, and grief. I work with my clients to understand and process how they are feeling and teach them skills to develop a better sense of self and a healthier outlook on life. My communication style My communication style is relaxed, patient, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking to me about anything, and I understand that level of trust takes time. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to become a therapist because I always wanted to help people. I was raised by a parent in a helping profession and was taught the importance of compassion and service to others. I am privileged to have people trust me with their truth and their pain and to help them realize how capable they are. My goals for you My approach to goal setting with clients is about working together to discover what you want to work on and creating a plan to help you achieve your goals. Over time, we will work together to assess your goals and adjust them as you grow.
