Amy Lentz, MSW

Psychotherapist
MI
I am licensed in Michigan as a clinical social worker with 25 years of professional experience. I have an eclectic approach, utilizing various theoretical approaches and real-life experiences. Additionally, I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). I see therapy as a space centered around you and what matters most in your life, whether that’s nurturing relationships, growing in confidence, reprocessing traumatic events, or working toward a personal goal close to your heart. Together, we’ll shape our conversations and plan in a way that fits your unique needs. My role is to walk alongside you, offering encouragement, practical tools, and gentle guidance to help you keep moving toward the life you want. I enjoy working with individuals of all backgrounds and abilities to navigate the stressors of life. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I am genuine and create a safe, non-judgmental place to process life's difficult moments. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and meaningful life. I am here to support and empower you on that journey. My journey has been shaped by a combination of clinical and personal experience. I began as a social worker with a clinical designation, working in a community mental health setting before and during the challenges of COVID-19. That experience reinforced my commitment to supporting individuals therapeutically, but also prompted me to reflect on new ways I could expand my skills and impact as an older adult. I decided to make a change, both academically and professionally, by pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing while transitioning into a telemental health role. This shift allows me to integrate creativity and flexibility into my work while continuing to provide meaningful mental health support.
