Hi there, I'm Amy! My name is Amy J. Muell. I am licensed in Iowa as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My specialization is in trauma, particularly sexual abuse. I use evidence-based practices in my treatment. My approach I use a blend of evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to each client’s needs. My primary methods include trauma-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and attachment-based work. I also integrate family systems theory and mindfulness to help clients build resilience and emotional regulation. My approach is flexible and collaborative, designed to empower clients on their journey to healing and self-discovery. My focus I work with ages 5 to 105 in individual, family, and couples therapy. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and marital problems are areas I have treated over the past 15 years. I specialize in all types of trauma with a focus on sexual abuse and problematic sexual behavior. My communication style My style is warm, straightforward, and collaborative. I create a non-judgmental, open space where you feel safe to explore your thoughts and emotions. I approach sessions with empathy, genuine curiosity, and respect for your experiences. My office is calm and welcoming, designed to help you feel at ease. I strive to foster an atmosphere where you feel empowered to speak openly, knowing you’ll be met with compassion and understanding. My journey to mental healthcare I was drawn to this work by a deep desire to support others in their healing journey. Witnessing individuals’ resilience as they overcome challenges is inspiring and humbling. What drives me is the opportunity to empower clients, helping them find strength within and make lasting changes.
