Psychotherapist

Hello, I have been serving my community through psychotherapy practices for almost 20 years. I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and business owner who understands the challenges, struggles, sorrows and joys of life because of my own relationships and experiences - both personally and professionally. I became a therapist because I love people, love hearing their unique stories, and helping when life gets overwhelming, when you need someone to really hear you, to guide and encourage people to access their value, their abilities and accountability to self and others. As a marriage and family therapist, my training is heavily focused on the family system, on attachment, and capacity. While we are a product of our family system, we are not beholden to the same generational patterns. We have an incredible opportunity and ability, when accessed, to drive change and do better. I think having a professional help guide you is the best way to move forward and hold you accountable to your goals and dreams.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My years of experience, compassion and desire to see my clients truly thrive are a few reasons for you to reach out and see if we are a good fit. I use cognitive behavioral, EMDR, EFT Couples Therapy and good talk therapy as modalities to help. I have a casual, warm and comfortable office where you can feel free to relax and just talk. I like seeing my clients in office whenever possible but also know online therapy can be convenient and helpful for consistency with your goals. I look forward to seeing how we can work together!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to welcome my clients to the office for a first intake visit whenever possible. If you need to do online after the initial visit, I find meeting at least once in-person can be a huge help in establishing rapport and getting a better feel for style and expectations. I have a flexible weekly schedule, meaning that I am open to having sessions at different times each week during my work hours because I know most of us don't have a set schedule in life. I start sessions with getting your history, asking what you are hoping to accomplish and explaining my approaches. I invite my clients to be curious about themselves and find that good mental health is a result of positive self-awareness and the willingness to be accountable for self. We can discuss whether homework is a viable option for you. As someone who is neurodivergent myself, I understand that actually doing the homework might not be possible or interesting, or may cause more stress, so we will talk about what that could look like for you. I always tell my clients we only get 50 minutes together/week typically, so we have to agree on what to do with the other hours in the week so that you will feel like there is progress and change.
