Getting to know Amy Rozett

Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over thirty years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse fields. She is also a Registered Play Therapist, an Employee Assistance Specialist-Clinical, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Amy graduated with Honors from Emory University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She then completed her master’s degree in psychology and an Ed.S. in Community Counseling from the University of West GA. Amy has worked in a variety of settings, including outpatient counseling, in-patient hospital treatment, residential settings, private practice, and in the school system. Amy also spent eight years working with military children and families stationed in Europe. Following her return to the U.S., she provided substance abuse and mental health counseling services for adult service members and their dependents at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital for several years before moving on to work with military children and families in the VA Beach Public School System while also maintaining a private practice. Amy returned to the Atlanta area in 2017 and began full time private practice working with children, adolescents, adults, families and couples. Amy offers an eclectic mix of therapeutic approaches designed to meet your individual needs and preferences. Her approach is grounded in Client Centered Therapy which is based in unconditional positive regard, warmth, genuineness, and acceptance. Amy strongly believes that individuals will naturally move towards growth given the proper environment. She actively works to help clients identify and resolve the blocks that keep them stuck in negative mood states and/or self-destructive patterns of behavior. To this end, Amy combines extensive training in Brainspotting, play therapy, sand tray therapy, expressive therapies, body-oriented therapies, CBT, Mindfulness, hypnosis, brain-based anxiety reduction strategies, parent training, and art based therapies to create a unique experience just for you and/or your family members.
