I'm Dr. Amy Syper, a licensed psychologist. I believe that you are the expert on your life, and you bring your own set of strengths into the therapeutic process. My aim is to support you on your path to becoming your most authentic self and living a life that aligns with your personal values. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to give you autonomy throughout our work together. I hope to utilize your strengths and empower you as you navigate life’s challenges. I am passionate about creating an environment where individuals of all backgrounds feel safe to share and express themselves openly as we work together. The journey of “becoming” is lifelong and I aim to support you in your process of self-exploration, insight building, and I can provide skills for you to utilize along the way. It takes strength and bravery to engage in therapy and my intention is to build an open and trusting therapeutic relationship to support the process of growth, with a little humor along the way. In addition to talk therapy, I can support those who are interested in exploring the therapeutic benefits of movement and dance. I discovered my love for dance as a teenager and since then dance has been an important part of my life both recreationally and therapeutically. Connecting with the body through movement and dance provides valuable insights that allow us to explore and heal in new ways. No dance experience is necessary to engage in dance/movement therapy and individuals of all ability statuses are welcome. Our bodies hold on to important information and strengthening our mind-body connection supports insight into emotional experiences, self-esteem, and self-regulation. I completed my undergraduate training in both psychology and dance at the University of North Texas. I earned my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Denver, and my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University in New York.
