“Working with Amy has been one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences in my life and I do not say that lightly. From the very beginning, there was a sense of safety & professionalism that made it clear I was in the right place. Therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you are opening up about deeply personal thoughts, experiences, and emotions, but she created an environment where I felt heard, and cared for. One of the first things I noticed was her ability to listen without judgment. It was not passive listening, but active, intentional engagement. She remembered details from previous sessions, asked thoughtful follow-up questions, helped me connect patterns in my thoughts and behaviors that I had not recognized before. That level of attentiveness made me feel valued. Built a strong foundation of trust early on. What truly sets Amy apart is their ability to balance empathy with honesty. ”

Getting to know Amy Thachet

Ms. Amy Thachet is a highly skilled psychotherapist. She offers virtual counseling via Headway. As part of her formal education, Ms. Thachet completed a master's degree in social work at The University of Texas at Arlington. She strives to stay up-to-date with the advancements in her field to ensure she always delivers the best, most effective care. Ms. Thachet sees patients with a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns. She listens to them during consultations, explains their conditions, and helps them pick a suitable treatment plan.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have worked extensively with diverse populations across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, substance use, grief, and relationship difficulties. I am dedicated to cultural competence and advocate for equitable access to mental health services. Through collaborative treatment planning and a strengths-based approach, I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where clients feel heard, supported, and capable of growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is grounded in building a strong therapeutic alliance and tailoring interventions to each client’s unique needs and goals. I begin with a comprehensive intake and assessment to understand the client’s history, presenting concerns, strengths, and environment. From there, we collaboratively develop a treatment plan that outlines clear, realistic goals and identifies the therapeutic approaches that may be most effective—whether that’s cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, or a strengths-based model. I view therapy as a partnership, where clients are the experts on their own lives. I work to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences, develop insight, and build skills for lasting change. Throughout the process, I regularly check in to evaluate progress and adjust our approach as needed. My goal is always to empower clients with tools that support their well-being long after therapy ends.
