Getting to know Amy Waldie

I think one of the most important parts of therapy is finding the right "fit." That relationship is key in helping grow trust and meet any goals you might have going into the therapeutic process. Let me give you a glimpse of who I am! I'm Amy, an LMHC with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from Troy University, and I have been in the counseling world for over 15 years. I love what I get to do. I started my career in the community health sector, where I learned so much and worked with diverse groups of people with an array of various needs. I have worked in school settings as well as in homes. I have been deep within the community in many of my roles along the way. I have developed many techniques over time, as not one intervention will work for everyone. Some of the modalities I use are EMDR, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, solution-focused techniques, as well as a combination of these. I meet people where they are-maybe having to learn how they are even feeling, let alone how to cope with that feeling. Maybe we have a tool, but if no one ever took the time to teach us, then what good is that tool?

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am client-centered and feel that the session is your time to be able to lead the session. That does not mean that I will not step in and re-direct when needed to identify and work through some things that come up. I like to think that I am seen as a very genuine and hope that you will take away different elements after each session. One session may be coping skills another session may be an increase in self-esteem and some sessions it may just be simply that someone was able to validate and listen to you.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

She actively listens and is validating and encouraging. I’ve searched for a therapist for awhile and I’m finally making progress.
I started seeing Amy before she moved to the Grow therapy platform and she's been an amazing counselor and helping me figure things out and deal with issues that I've been facing for the last 2 years. Very grateful to have found her. I prefer in person versus virtual so I'm hoping there will eventually be an in person option in the future.
Since I been seeing Amy I've seen positive growth in me and she has help me identify certain behaviors that I need to work on and also made me feel safe to speak openly without judgment and even made me realize it's ok and normal to feel certain things.
