Ana Lozano, LPCC

Ana Lozano, LPCC

Psychotherapist
OH
I’m a trauma-informed therapist who works with adults experiencing anxiety, overthinking, relationship concerns, family stress, trauma, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, and feeling emotionally overwhelmed. Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware adults who understand a lot about themselves but still find themselves repeating the same patterns. You may be the person who takes care of everyone else, feels responsible for other people’s emotions, has difficulty saying no, overthinks decisions, or struggles with guilt when you try to put yourself first. You may also be navigating a complicated relationship with a parent, sibling, partner, or family system. My work is especially informed by complex trauma and complicated family dynamics, including growing up in emotionally intense, unpredictable, critical, or high-conflict environments. You do not need to identify with trauma or have everything figured out before starting therapy. I provide individual therapy for adults and take an integrative approach, drawing from trauma-informed therapy, family systems, CBT, ACT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and EMDR-informed interventions depending on your needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, thoughtful, collaborative, and practical. I’m not a therapist who will simply sit back and expect you to figure everything out on your own. We’ll slow things down, get curious about what is happening, and work together to understand both where your patterns came from and what might help you respond differently now. I believe insight is important, but understanding why you do something does not always make it easier to change. Therapy with me often involves bridging that gap. We may explore family dynamics and past experiences, notice patterns showing up in your current relationships, build skills for managing difficult emotions, and practice boundaries or new ways of responding. You can expect compassion and validation, but also gentle honesty and curiosity when something may be keeping you stuck. Therapy is tailored to you, so some sessions may involve deeper processing while others may be more focused on problem-solving, coping skills, or what is happening in your life right now. You do not need to show up with the perfect words or know exactly what you want to work on. We can figure that out together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is primarily about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what is bringing you to therapy, what has been happening recently, relevant history and relationships, what you have already tried, and what you would like to be different. From there, we’ll develop a treatment plan based on your needs and goals. I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions when possible, so we have enough consistency to build momentum, although frequency can be adjusted depending on your needs. Ongoing sessions are individualized. We may talk through current stressors, explore patterns in relationships or family dynamics, process past experiences, work on anxiety or overthinking, practice boundaries and communication, or build skills for responding differently when old patterns show up. I regularly check in about what is and is not helping. Therapy should not feel like something that is simply happening to you. My goal is for us to understand what you need, work collaboratively, and help you create changes that feel meaningful and sustainable.
