Getting to know Anahit (Ani) Asatrian-Londner

I am a mental health clinician at Doria Therapeutic Group, PLLC, specializing in trauma-informed care, child and family therapy, and culturally responsive counseling. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating trauma, anxiety, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, and major life transitions. I hold a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology and am completing a second Master’s in Forensic Mental Health Counseling at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where I maintain a 4.0 GPA. My approach is deeply influenced by my identity as a first-generation American and descendant of genocide survivors, emphasizing resilience, empathy, and the importance of history in understanding each patient’s journey. My therapeutic style integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered techniques, and trauma-informed practices, creating a warm and collaborative space where patients feel supported in exploring their experiences, building emotional insight, and achieving meaningful goals. I also bring experience from working with survivors of violence, school-based emotional literacy programs, and advocacy for neurodiverse learners and families. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy time in nature, yoga, and family life, drawing strength from my cultural heritage. I am committed to ongoing professional development and aspire to build a private practice focused on trauma recovery, intergenerational healing, and family wellness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Patients working with me can expect a warm, collaborative, and supportive environment where they feel safe to share openly. My approach is trauma-informed and tailored to each patient’s unique experiences and needs. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered techniques, and other evidence-based practices to help patients build emotional insight, develop coping strategies, and work toward meaningful goals. Together, we focus on understanding experiences, fostering resilience, and creating practical tools for navigating life’s challenges.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the first sessions, I focus on understanding each patient’s background, current challenges, and goals to create a personalized plan for therapy. Sessions typically include a balance of conversation, reflection, and practical strategies to support emotional regulation, coping, and insight. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered techniques, and trauma-informed practices, adjusting strategies to fit each patient’s needs. Throughout our work together, we regularly review progress and collaboratively adapt our approach to ensure therapy remains effective and meaningful.

A shot paragraph or two can't possibly do her justice. Best across the board. See her and you'll understand why two paragraphs won't cut it. Phenomenal at everything.
