Great to meet you! It's no surprise that with Acts of Service as my love language, I found my calling in a helping profession. My passion lies in empowering others, and I've dedicated most of my career to serving disadvantaged communities and individuals navigating severe and persistent mental illness, including those within the criminal justice system. My journey has also led me to college counseling and advising, a field that fuels my enthusiasm for lifelong learning and growth. I hold an MEd in Educational Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, which has deepened my understanding of human development and learning. My therapeutic approach is tailored to individual needs. I incorporate person-centered therapy to foster a warm and empathetic environment, mindfulness practices to cultivate present-moment awareness, cognitive-behavioral techniques to identify and restructure unhelpful thought patterns, dialectical behavior skills for emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness, and solution-focused therapy to empower clients in setting and achieving their goals. I believe in the power of envisioning change, even if it's just a rough outline. By working backward from your vision, we can identify and address the obstacles that may be hindering your progress.
