Analia Almada, LPC, NCC, LMFT

Psychotherapist
VA
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over twenty years of experience currently working with insurance plans through both Headway and Grow Therapy, as well as self-paying clients. Throughout my career in counseling I have worked in private practice, in community mental health settings, as a school counselor in both middle and high schools, and I have supervised school counseling interns at George Washington University. As a Bilingual therapist (English/Spanish), who has studied in Argentina, at Virginia Tech for both my LPC and my LMFT certifications, and later at George Mason University for my school counseling certification, I strive to be inclusive in my work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, ethnicity, religions, or sexual identity and orientation.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Through our working relationship I am hoping to address your counseling goals whether they are to discover yourself, to feel better, to adjust to life's transitions, to improve your relationships, to grieve the loss of a loved one, or to find balance in your life at a time of need. I look forward to working with you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Through my own schooling and experience I have come to use an eclectic approach to therapy, which might include restructuring thought patterns to help you see things from different perspectives to using your own strengths for empowerment so that you can move forward through challenges in your life. My approach uses Mindfulness techniques, such as encouraging you to focus on the present and on what you can control to help you navigate obstacles and achieve your own life goals. Processing life events is important, as you come to understand your emotions and behaviors better and take control of your own actions. Through different technical approaches, I am here to work with you on meeting the needs that bring you to therapy.
