Getting to know Anastasija Ignjatovic

Hi, I'm Anastasija, and I grew up in Serbia where asking for help was considered a weakness, so I understand the shame that can come with walking into therapy for the first time, especially if you come from a background where vulnerability was never encouraged. I moved to the US and built my career working with children and families, many of them navigating life between two cultures. I offer sessions in Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian because sometimes the most important things need to be said in the language you feel them in. I specialize in anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, ADHD, self-esteem, identity, and relationship struggles.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with all ages, from childhood right through to older adults. Kids express themselves through play and behavior long before they have the right words, and my job is to pay attention to all of it. I'm a dancer, so I know what it means to communicate through movement instead of words and that perspective runs through how I work with every client.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Having credentials doesn't make me any different from you. We're all navigating life and making mistakes. I'm not here to lecture you or tell you what to do. I'm here to help you find what's already inside you. Being vulnerable in front of a stranger is scary, but not trying at all is the only option that guarantees nothing changes.
