Psychotherapist
IL
I'm a licensed clinical professional counselor with a Master of Education in Human Services and Counseling from DePaul University, where I also earned my bachelor's degree. After working for many years as a survivor advocate, I transitioned into my role as a therapist, recognizing the incredible capacity people have for healing and change. My strengths include identifying and managing anxiety and depression. I also work with individuals impacted by trauma to help undo unhealthy patterns and unlock their potential to live healthy, meaningful lives. My approach Because each person's story is unique, I use an eclectic approach to therapy. After understanding what has prompted someone to seek therapy and developing goals together, I combine elements of CBT, person-centered therapy, feminist therapy, mindfulness skills, and some DBT techniques to achieve those goals. I strive to make therapy sessions a safe space where people can be their authentic selves, putting them in the best position to make forward progress. My focus I am comfortable working with people over the age of 16 who are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, and trauma. My communication style My tone is guided by the needs of my clients. Some prefer a more direct, proactive, and guiding approach, while others respond well to a thoughtful, quiet, and calm demeanor. My journey to mental healthcare I was always drawn to a helping profession, and during my Master's program at DePaul University, an internship profoundly shaped my career path. Instead of graduating and moving directly into a therapist role, I became a full-time employee at my internship site because I loved the work. That position did not require a license, so after 15 years as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault, abuse, harassment, domestic and dating violence, and stalking at a university, I decided to pursue my license and fully embrace my role as a therapist.
