Getting to know Dr. Andrea Darden

Are you struggling after a recent breast cancer diagnosis or other traumatic event? Have you been feeling depressed or anxious about the future or unable to overcome the emotional trauma of coping with this illness or other challenges? Whether it’s you or a loved one, a breast cancer diagnosis is incredibly overwhelming for the entire family. As someone who has thrived after my own breast cancer journey, I deeply understand the devastation and struggle that come with this news, including the negative thoughts and emotions that can challenge your faith. But I also know that recovery, hope, and victory are possible. This journey isn’t easy, but you and your loved ones have the strength to overcome it. With more than 20 years of professional practice and personal experience, I specialize in helping women on the breast cancer journey using compassionate, impactful, trauma-based therapies to resolve distressing symptoms, process emotional trauma, and build resilience. I often use EMDR to help patients begin their healing and find relief from their symptoms. This evidence-based therapy helps process and heal distressing memories through guided eye movements. If you seek faith-based counseling, I provide a welcoming space to integrate your spiritual beliefs into therapy, promoting healing on all levels. I hold a Doctor of Social Work from the University of Tennessee and a Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University, which have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you effectively. No matter where you are on your path, talking with a professional who truly understands can make a world of difference. I’m here to help you and your family navigate this challenging time. If you are ready to get started now, reach out to schedule an appointment. Let’s take this journey together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Before booking, please note that I do not prescribe medication. I often use EMDR, an effective approach, to help patients begin their journey of healing and feel relief from their symptoms. If you seek faith-based counseling, I will provide a welcoming space to integrate your spiritual beliefs into your therapy, promoting healing on all levels. My specialized support for breast cancer patients and caregivers provides tailored services, fostering a sense of community and understanding.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your first appointment with me, I will spend time getting to know you through an intake process - learning about the struggles that brought you into therapy, and how this is interfering with your ability to function normally. We will discuss an appropriate treatment plan for you to address the emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges you are experiencing. My goal will be to build a strong therapeutic alliance through trust, empathy, safety, and support so that by the end of treatment, your journey can result in a better, stronger you.

Don’t see your insurance?

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Initial session: $220 for 75 minutes
Ongoing session: $150 for 55 minutes
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

If your insurance is not listed, we can help verify your out-of-network benefits. We offer an option that will automatically submit a superbill for you and allow you to only pay your co-insurance for sessions or be reimbursed. This could save you on average 70 percent of my full rate per session.
