Andrea Duran, LPC

Andrea Duran, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with advanced training in trauma-informed, somatic, and sex-positive therapy. I work with adults who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns of anxiety, burnout, emotional shutdown, or difficulty in relationships—even when things appear “fine” on the outside. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in nervous system–informed care. I integrate evidence-based psychotherapy with somatic awareness to help clients better understand how their body, emotions, and past experiences interact. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to build safety, emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of self from the inside out. I have experience supporting clients with trauma, stress, identity concerns, sexual health, boundary setting, and life transitions. I strive to create a space that is respectful, culturally responsive, and affirming, where clients feel heard and supported at their own pace. Therapy with me is not about judgment or quick fixes, it is about developing insight, resilience, and practical tools that support lasting change and a more grounded connection to yourself and others.

Getting to know Andrea Duran

I integrate evidence-based psychotherapy with somatic awareness to help clients better understand how their body, emotions, and past experiences interact. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to build safety, emotional regulation, and a stronger sense of self from the inside out. I have experience supporting clients with trauma, stress, identity concerns, sexual health, boundary setting, and life transitions. Therapy with me is not about judgment or quick fixes, it is about developing insight, resilience, and practical tools that support lasting change and a more grounded connection to yourself and others.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect a thoughtful, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach to therapy. I work at a pace that respects your nervous system and lived experience, balancing insight-oriented conversation with practical tools for emotional regulation and self-understanding. Sessions are structured yet flexible. We may explore patterns from the past, current stressors, and the ways emotions show up in the body. I integrate evidence-based psychotherapy with somatic awareness to support regulation, clarity, and healthier responses to stress and relationships. I value transparency and mutual feedback, and I encourage clients to share what is or is not working for them in therapy. My role is not to give advice or quick fixes, but to support clients in developing insight, self-trust, and skills they can use outside of sessions. Above all, I aim to provide a respectful, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore difficult experiences and move toward meaningful, sustainable change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Early sessions focus on getting to know you, your concerns, goals, history, and what has or hasn’t been helpful in the past. We will also spend time understanding how stress, emotions, and life experiences affect you in the present, including how they may show up in your body, mood, or relationships. Ongoing sessions are conversational and collaborative. A typical session includes space to talk through current challenges, reflect on patterns, and build insight, while also learning practical skills for emotional regulation, boundaries, and coping. When appropriate, I may introduce gentle somatic or mindfulness-based exercises to support grounding and awareness. The process is tailored to each client and may evolve over time. Some sessions are more reflective, while others are more skills-focused, depending on your needs. Progress is reviewed together, and goals are adjusted as you grow or as circumstances change. Overall, therapy is structured but flexible, with an emphasis on safety, understanding, and applying what we explore in session to everyday life.
