Andrea Franco-Cook, LCSW

Psychotherapist
KY
Hi, I’m a licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Lexington, Kentucky. I work with clients ages 17 through adulthood who are navigating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and long-standing patterns of inner or relational conflict. I believe therapy is never one-size-fits-all. Each person is unique, and treatment should be flexible and responsive. For that reason, I continue to deepen my training across modalities so I can meet clients where they are. My approach is structured, collaborative, and progress-oriented. I focus on building on each client’s strengths and value open communication as the foundation of a strong therapeutic relationship. Because therapy is an investment, I want each session to feel meaningful and productive. I often check in about what clients are taking away from our work so we can track progress and adjust as needed.

Getting to know Andrea Franco-Cook

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m a progress-oriented, trauma-focused therapist with a structured, collaborative approach. I believe in open communication and building on your strengths so each session feels purposeful and worthwhile. I often check in about what you’re taking away from our work together, so we can track progress and adjust as needed. My goal is to support you with both compassion and challenge, helping you build clarity, confidence, and resilience, until therapy is no longer something you need.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session is focused on getting to know you. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, your history, and what you want from therapy. I don’t rush into trauma work right away. Instead, I start by helping clients feel more grounded and stable. I use CBT to help you learn to identify and shift thought patterns that fuel anxiety and stress. Once you feel more regulated and we’ve built trust, we decide together when and how to address trauma. I often use EMDR to help the brain process stuck memories, and IFS to explore and heal wounded parts of the self. Everything moves at your pace, with an emphasis on safety, collaboration, and support.
