Andrea Johnson, LMHC

Psychotherapist

I work with adults and adolescents affected by traumatic events or stress related to unexpected life changes. I specialize in relieving symptoms of anxiety and depression, such as repetitive behaviors, excessive worry, low self-esteem, and an overall feeling of not being in control of one’s life. My approach is primarily based on the Cognitive Behavioral model (CBT/TF-CBT) with a strength-based and collaborative focus. I also incorporate educational and alternative interventions to treat the whole person, tailored to your specific needs and goals. I believe that through empowerment, you can bring about positive change and become increasingly mentally and physically healthy. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support individuals through their healing journeys. I have personally experienced what it takes to increase cohesion within a family unit while honoring the uniqueness of each individual. Having family members with dementia sparked my special interest in brain function—specifically, how cognitive abilities and personalities are altered by disease, trauma, and substance use. In my free time, I enjoy caring for my animals, exploring forensic science, trying new foods and recipes, and playing a variety of video games.
