Typically an initial consult involves reviewing the intake packet, informed consent, and brief summary about what you hope to achieve. Most clients leave the first session with a clearer understanding of the process and what to expect moving forward. The first session is also a chance for the client to determine if they feel comfortable with the counselor and if the therapeutic approach aligns with their needs.
