I am a psychotherapist and mental health counselor working with individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, anxiety, and the broader emotional demands of daily life. My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change comes from both understanding our experiences and developing the tools to respond to them more effectively. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent over 25 years as an attorney working closely with individuals and families during times of significant stress and transition. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for how personal, relational, and professional challenges intersect, and ultimately led me to pursue a career in mental health counseling to support people in a more direct and lasting way . In therapy, I provide a thoughtful, structured, and collaborative environment where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and patterns without judgment. I work with clients to better understand what is contributing to their current difficulties, while also helping them develop practical strategies to improve communication, manage stress, and navigate complex life situations. I have particular experience working with relationship concerns, including marital and premarital issues, as well as individuals facing life transitions such as career changes, shifts in identity, or evolving family roles . I also support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and the impact of ongoing stress. My approach is flexible and tailored to each client. Some individuals benefit from more structured, skills-based work, while others are seeking a deeper understanding of long-standing patterns and emotional experiences. In all cases, I aim to create a steady, supportive space where clients feel comfortable engaging in meaningful and productive work. I offer both in-person sessions in Rochester, NY, and secure telehealth appointments. I currently practice under Stephen Haramis, LCSW, PLLC Therapy Services.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapeutic style is grounded in curiosity, engagement, and a strong commitment to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space. I approach therapy as a collaborative process, where understanding each client’s unique experience is central to meaningful change. Curiosity plays a key role in my work. Rather than making assumptions, I focus on understanding how each person experiences their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. This includes exploring both present challenges and patterns that have developed over time. By examining these together, therapy becomes a space where clients can gain clarity and begin to respond differently to situations that may have previously felt automatic or overwhelming. At the same time, my style is supportive and engaged. I aim to provide a steady, grounded presence while actively participating in the process. I ask thoughtful questions, offer reflections, and help guide sessions in a way that keeps the work focused. Clients can expect to feel heard and understood, while also being gently challenged to consider new perspectives. Reflection is an important component of my approach. Many clients come to therapy with a sense that something is not working, but without a clear understanding of why. Together, we connect current concerns with underlying emotional or relational patterns, supporting greater insight and more intentional choices over time. In working with individuals and couples, I integrate practical strategies with deeper exploratory work, depending on each client’s needs. My goal is to create an engaged therapeutic environment that supports both insight and meaningful change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After initial registration, I work with each client to schedule an intake evaluation. This is a diagnostic and exploratory process, typically completed over one to two sessions, where we review current concerns, relevant history, and what is bringing you to therapy at this time. The goal of this phase is to develop a clear understanding of your experiences and begin identifying areas of focus for treatment. Following the evaluation, we move into a collaborative treatment planning process. Together, we identify goals and discuss what you would like to work toward in therapy. This helps establish direction and ensures that our work remains intentional and aligned with your needs. The structure of ongoing therapy varies depending on the individual or couple. In individual therapy, sessions often involve a combination of reflection, exploration, and practical strategies. We work to better understand patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships, while also identifying ways to respond more effectively to challenges as they arise. In couples therapy, the process focuses more directly on communication patterns and relational dynamics. Sessions are structured to help both partners better understand their own experiences as well as each other’s, with the goal of improving connection, reducing conflict, and building more effective ways of interacting. Across all areas of treatment, therapy is collaborative, paced thoughtfully, and adapted to each client. My aim is to provide a structured yet flexible process that supports both insight and meaningful, lasting change.
