Andrea Vaz-Antunes, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
Hello, and welcome! I'm Andrea Vaz Antunes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in San Diego, CA, with a Master’s in Social Work from San Diego State University. As a trauma-focused therapist, I specialize in helping individuals overcome the lasting effects of childhood experiences. My approach involves exploring the energy dynamics within our bodies and the relational connections we engage with daily, guiding clients toward healing and resilience. My approach My therapeutic approach is somatic-relational, rooted in body-centered psychotherapies and attachment theories. By integrating attachment and trauma-based techniques, Bioenergetic Analysis, EMDR, and insights from my personal therapy journey, I guide clients in exploring the interplay between mind, body, and spirit. Together, we embark on a journey toward deep healing and self-discovery, uncovering pathways to profound personal transformation. My focus I work with adults, children, and families, guiding them through life transitions and transformations. My specialties include relationship transitions such as marriage and divorce/separation, loss and grief including the death of a loved one, and life stage transitions like aging, career changes, and relocating. I also support clients through parenting transitions, including pregnancy and the arrival of a new baby, children leaving the home, and adjusting to a child's diagnosis. My communication style I believe therapy is effective when both parties engage authentically. While I rely on evidence-based approaches for education, I let you guide the session. I use “a conscious use of self” to create a genuine connection between therapist and client. I have dedicated my life to learning what helps people heal and want to share that knowledge with you, empowering you in your healing journey. When you leave our time together, my goal is for you to feel strong.
