Getting to know Andrew Cooper

Let's face it, it's not easy coming to the decision to seek out counseling, let alone calling a complete stranger to do so. My hope is that, if you decide to take this step to contact me, we will not be strangers for long. I have been a clinician in various capacities for over 15 years and have always worked very hard to make people feel comfortable talking to me. During those years, I have developed a general practice where I have seen people for anxiety, depression, parenting, marriage, and sexuality. I hold a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Bryn Mawr College and earned my Bachelor's degree from Bucknell University. In addition, I am a certified school psychologist and have been working in schools for over 10 years. In that time, I've become very familiar with children who have school-related problems, as well as psychological testing and special education laws. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to take that first step.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been practicing psychotherapy for 15+ years in a private setting. I pride myself on being a good listener who is highly empathic.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Upon meeting someone new, my primary emphasis is on developing a strong rapport so that there is a level of comfort in talking about life events that may be difficult. I view our relationship as a partnership where we work together towards common goals., and I encourage people to be their genuine selves in therapy.

We have been going to Andy Cooper for a long time and find him caring and helpful.

Andy is compassionate, patient and good at making you feel comfortable. He’s excellent at what he does and I highly recommend him.
I can’t recommend Andrew Cooper enough. He was recommended to us through our insurance as someone experienced with teen issues, and he was an incredible support for my daughter during a very difficult time right before high school. Andrew has a calming presence that immediately puts both my daughter and me at ease. He’s easy to talk to, truly listens, and makes himself available when we need him. His thoughtful approach and ability to connect with teens have made a huge difference in my daughter’s journey. I’m incredibly grateful for his support and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a compassionate and skilled therapist.
This guy is my therapist and he’s amazing. Right from the get-go he was easy to talk to and has been really helpful with getting over the issues that I came to him for. He’s also really easy to talk to and generally a nice person; I always look forward to sessions because even if there isn’t something urgent I need to talk about, just being there is comforting. I’d highly recommend him to anyone struggling with general mental health issues. Plus, his schedule is flexible most of the time, so it’s easy to move sessions around if you need to. I couldn’t ask for a better therapist.
Andy is great! Easy to connect with, flexible with appointment timing, and understands point of views of others to help get through issues. I was going through some tough times with my father passing away, changing careers, and juggling my happiness with everything else going on in my life. I'm now feeling great, and he was a big part of it.
