Andrew Kane, MA

Psychotherapist
1 E Superior St, Ste 306, Chicago, IL
Andrew Kane is a pre-licensed provider working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. In therapy, I believe everyone has the capacity to heal and grow when given the right space and support. My goal is to create a safe, affirming environment where clients can reflect, process, and move forward at their own pace. I work collaboratively with each person to help them feel empowered and in control of their own therapeutic journey. I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, parents, and individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community. Much of my career has focused on supporting children and families across various stages of development. I have experience in both traditional talk therapy and play therapy, and I often integrate art-based and family therapy modalities when appropriate. My clinical background includes working with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and stress-related disorders. My approach is rooted in psychodynamic and systems theories, with additional training in Adlerian, client-centered, and cognitive behavioral therapies. I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), allowing me to offer trauma-informed care across ages and settings. Before entering the field of clinical psychology, I worked as a teacher at the University of Michigan’s Towsley Children’s Center, a program known for its developmentally appropriate practices. My clinical training has also included focused study on gender, sexuality development, and cultural awareness. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan. I completed my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Adler University, where I am currently pursuing a PsyD. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy spending time with friends, playing Dungeons & Dragons and video games, reading, and attending concerts and musical theater.
