Andrew Romano, MS

Psychotherapist
NY
Hello! My name is Andrew. Whether this is your first go-around with therapy or not, I am happy you're here and want you to know that taking this small step is already an accomplishment in itself. I work with adolescents and adults of all ages, as well as the LGBTQIA+ community, who are coping with depression, anxiety, or significant life transitions. I like to take a more collaborative approach with clients to get to know you and help create a safe space in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming. I draw from many different approaches such as CBT, psychodynamic therapy, DBT, and Narrative therapy. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all kind of situation, and it is important to remember that everyone is different. The topic of each session is really in your hands, whether it is wanting to develop healthy coping skills, short- or long-term goals, or simply wanting a safe space to vent about something. My goal is for you to feel safe and heard, and to leave with more clarity and insight than before.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Once you schedule an appointment, our team will reach out to help you get started. You’ll be asked to complete your client documentation through our secure SimplePractice client portal. We will also verify your insurance benefits before your scheduled session. After your paperwork is completed and your insurance is confirmed, you will receive a link to join your virtual session through SimplePractice. If you have any questions along the way, our team is here to support you and ensure a smooth, stress-free start to services.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with getting to know you—your concerns, goals, strengths, and what has or hasn’t worked for you in the past. In our initial sessions, we focus on building a comfortable, trusting relationship while clarifying what you would like to gain from therapy.
