Angel Brown, LISW - CP

Psychotherapist
SC
I’m Angel, a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, and the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, people living with HIV, and racial minorities. My work is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and a deep respect for the dignity and worth of every person. I became a therapist in a very human way — by accident and curiosity. A single psychology class in undergrad shifted my path from photography to sociology and psychology, eventually leading me to pursue my masters in social work. Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people heal from trauma and reclaim their sense of self. A bit about me as a person Hobbies: reading thrillers, puzzling, working out Values: integrity, dignity of all people, ethics, competence Personality: personable, easy‑going, compassionate, non‑judgmental, approachable My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported. A space where therapy feels less like a doctor’s appointment and more like a grounded, honest conversation with someone who genuinely cares.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me feels like talking to someone who gets that your brain can be dramatic for no reason. I’m warm, direct, and a little funny when life is doing the most. We’ll talk about the heavy stuff without drowning in it, and I’ll give you real tools you can actually use — not just “drink water and journal.” Show up however you are: anxious, overwhelmed, thriving‑ish, or held together by vibes. I’ll meet you there.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is simple: we start with whatever your brain is doing today — spiraling, overthinking, vibing, or full‑on “fight‑or‑flight because someone texted ‘we need to talk.’” I get to know what’s stressing you out, what your goals are, and what patterns keep showing up like unwanted pop‑ups. From there, we build real‑life tools you can actually use when things get chaotic. We’ll talk, laugh, unpack the heavy stuff, and make a plan that feels doable. No pressure, no perfection — just steady progress and support at your pace.
