What should a new client know about working with you?

My ideal client would be someone who is between the ages of 16 to 89 years of age. I have experience in perinatal anxiety and depression disorders, mindfulness psychology, transpersonal and interpersonal psychology. I incorporate somatic therapeutic skills into the session, including the use of body movement, tapping, and expressive arts skills for an experiential process. I believe that when we don't have the words to say, our body knows what it needs if we listen to it and pay attention to it. Assessing all 9 dimensions of wellness to determine your goals and aspirations to live and begin to relieve the symptoms of just surviving. My communication style is expressive, collaborative, and direct. In relationships, have a relator style.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I went originally to college to become a teacher. I realized that I wanted to help individuals and to be involved in the environment that shaped the student. I became an Applied Behavior Therapist and then a Lead Therapist. I spent years working in the school district and then decided to further my education and get my master's to create a therapeutic space for others. I naturally enjoyed listening to people; well, people naturally came to me with their thoughts, needs, and complications in life. I realized early on I couldn't solve them, but I could show up and hold space. I later became a minister and then an associate pastor and pastor, but found my call to be in the one-on-one or small group therapeutic space. Treatment and goal planning, I believe, is a collaborative process and takes a collaborative effort of the patient and therapist. The treatment plan is a living document that grows and changes as the therapeutic process and relationship develop. Our first session will be an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll discuss your background and what brings you to therapy. Therapy is a process, and we’ll continue to build our work together over time. It’s completely normal to feel nervous about your first appointment. We’ll take it one step at a time, and I’m here to guide you through each step of the process.
