Angela Burke, LCSW

Angela Burke, LCSW

Psychotherapist
880 Sykes Rd, Canton, NY
I’m a licensed clinical social worker who helps adults navigate anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief, and the pressure of trying to do it all. I also work with couples who want to improve communication, break unhealthy patterns, and feel more connected. My approach is warm, practical, and collaborative. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed care. Together, we’ll identify what is keeping you stuck and develop realistic strategies that fit your life. I strive to create an affirming, judgment-free space where clients feel understood, supported, and comfortable being themselves. I welcome LGBTQ+ clients and provide telehealth services to adults and couples.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect therapy to feel supportive, conversational, and focused on what matters most to you. I will listen without judgment, validate your experiences, and also gently challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative. We will regularly discuss what is helping, what is not, and whether our work is meeting your needs. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. We will start where you are and move forward at a pace that feels manageable.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session, we will talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you are experiencing, and what you hope will change. I will also ask about your history, current supports, strengths, and any factors that may be affecting your well-being. From there, we will identify meaningful goals and create an individualized plan. Sessions may include exploring patterns, processing emotions, building coping and communication skills, and identifying practical steps you can use between appointments. We will periodically review your progress and adjust our approach based on your needs and feedback.
