Getting to know Angela Grant

Hello, I'm Angela Grant. I'm a native of Warner Robins, Georgia, and I bring a wealth of experience to my role as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Currently, I work full-time with the Georgia Department of Corrections as the Manager of Leadership Development in the Facilities Division. Here, I have the privilege of training and developing Deputy Wardens, Superintendents, and Wardens across the state. My journey in corrections has been extensive, having served in various roles including Correctional Officer, Mental Health Counselor, and Warden at both Emanuel Women’s Facility and Pulaski State Prison. This diverse background has given me a unique perspective on the complexities of human behavior and the importance of mental health support in challenging environments. In addition to my full-time role, I am deeply committed to my part-time work as a Mental Health Counselor. Since 2018, I have been in private practice, focusing on counseling at-risk youth and women who have experienced trauma, domestic violence, addiction, depression, and anxiety. My approach to therapy is client-centered and compassionate, aiming to create a safe and supportive space for healing and growth. I believe in the power of resilience and strive to empower my clients to navigate their challenges and achieve their personal goals. I hold a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and a master's degree in mental health counseling from Fort Valley State University. I am a POST Certified Instructor, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Certified ACA Auditor. My professional affiliations include memberships in the American Correctional Association, Southern States Correctional Association, National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice, Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia, and the Houston County Family Violence Task Force. Outside of my professional life, I am an active member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where I founded the “Village Project.” This initiative is close to my heart as it provides educational, social, and life skills workshops to at-risk youth in our community. If you are seeking support and guidance, I am here to help. Let's work together to navigate life's challenges and find a path to a healthier, more fulfilling life. Feel free to reach out to me to start your journey towards healing and growth.
