Adulting isn't easy. Just about the time you get through some of your childhood and adolescent challenges, adulthood is standing by with a new set of challenges. Many agree being your "authentic self" is a crucial step in the recipe for success, but HOW to do that in this world, within your family, your community, your workplace, may not be as clear. Perhaps old traumas are holding you back. Perhaps anxiety keeps you stuck or tentative. Ambivalence about anything, while normal, can slow us down and deter us from our path. With a Master's in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University at Lincoln Center, I am dedicated to helping you navigate these obstacles and find your way forward.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I use the toolbox approach and we will decide together what tools we use. I am available for coaching, where I utilize Motivational Interviewing and exploration of values to help you achieve your goals, and I am available for psychotherapy where I use a mix of modalities to help you achieve inner calm and empowerment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session will consist of some info swapping - I'll tell you about format, rates and style, and you'll tell me what brought you to begin this work. You will be able to share as much background as you are comfortable with. By the time you leave the first session I hope that we have a bit of therapeutic connection, and an understanding of how we each communicate. You may feel a relief for having started the process. Hopefully by the end of the second session we have a clearer understanding of the goals you want to achieve, and we'll put together a road map, or treatment plan. We'll talk about different coping skills you can use in between sessions if thoughts or feelings become more intense than you'd like. When you arrive for each session we'll start with a check-in and prioritize our time together. You will always be a full partner in the process and be treated with dignity and respect.
