Getting to know Angela Lisak

I hold licenses as a clinical social worker and a clinical addiction counselor. My educational background includes a BA in Psychology from Purdue University, obtained in 2003, and a Master's in Social Work from Indiana University, completed in 2006. Since 2006, my professional journey has encompassed 4 years in private practice, 12 years addressing the needs of DCS/probation/court-ordered clients, 7 years in a jail setting (including 6 years as a clinical supervisor), and a role as a clinical director at an addiction recovery center. My experience spans working with first responders, groups, couples, and individuals grappling with addiction, anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, suicidal thoughts, crisis situations, gender issues, adjustment disorder, parenting challenges, stress, self-esteem, codependency, relationship difficulties, and more. I feel therapy is like the gym and results are seen when working on things in a consistent manner. That being said, I strongly encourage weekly session to start and gradually reduce to twice a month and then monthly to see the best and quickest results. I won't set goals for you until I'm certain you can reach them, and you won't be alone in this journey. As a compassionate and caring individual, I am extremely resourceful and can provide you with the tools necessary to live a healthy and fulfilling life. I will certainly encourage you to become the best version of yourself! However, I don't enable dependency. My method is focused on ensuring the best results for you, telling you what you need to know and do, rather than what you want to hear. I aim to optimize your time, understanding its value. I assign homework in between sessions that you can email to me and I will provide feedback, or you can bring it to the next session. I believe therapy is like the gym, so I give assignments as the more often you work on your goals, the faster you will see results.

Easy to setup and didn’t take much effort. I like that I could take a picture of my insurance card and it was autofilled and let me know right at the beginning a list of doctors that were in my network and at the bottom of there list were ones that weren’t in network. Very organized too!
Verified patient
Super easy to talk to and made me feel super comfortable very quickly. I loved the way she coordinated the conversation and never made me feel rushed, excused, etc. I was VERY nervous about my first ever therapy session and she made me eager to learn more about myself and continue with therapy.
