What should a new client know about working with you?

Hello! I’m Angel, an LPC Associate dedicated to providing compassionate telehealth therapy, counseling, and coaching. I also offer in-person sessions in the beautiful city of San Antonio. As a trauma survivor, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. My personal journey has shaped my understanding of the healing process, making me particularly attuned to the needs of those who have experienced trauma. I take healing seriously because I’ve been there, and I’m passionate about helping others navigate their own paths to recovery. I am trained in several therapeutic modalities and specialize in: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A powerful therapy for trauma that helps clients process distressing memories. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): To assist clients in identifying and changing negative thought patterns. Psychodynamic Approaches: To explore how past experiences influence current behavior and emotions. My therapeutic approach is client-centered and empathetic. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences. Healing is a collaborative process, and I work closely with you to develop personalized strategies that promote growth and resilience. During our sessions, you can expect: A supportive and non-judgmental space Tailored therapeutic techniques to meet your individual needs Guidance and tools to help you cope with challenges and foster healing I look forward to the opportunity to work together and support you on your journey to wellness. Whether through telehealth or in-person sessions, I am here to help you heal and thrive.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) sessions is structured yet flexible, allowing us to tailor the process to your unique needs. Here’s an overview of how our EMDR sessions typically unfold: Phase 1: History Taking Gathering Your Story: We begin by taking your history and discussing the experiences that have brought you to therapy. This helps me understand the context of your challenges. Identifying Emotions: As you share your stories, we will identify the emotions attached to these experiences, allowing us to pinpoint areas that may need healing. Phase 2: Preparation and Stabilization Discussing Therapy Goals: Together, we will outline your therapy goals, ensuring that our work is aligned with your desired outcomes. Preparation for Processing: In this phase, we focus on building your coping skills and stabilization techniques to ensure you feel safe and supported as we move forward. Target Memory Identification Selecting Memories: We will collaboratively identify specific memories that we will target during the processing phase. This step is crucial in focusing our work on the areas that matter most to you. Processing Phase Beginning EMDR Processing: Once we have identified the target memories, we will enter the processing phase of EMDR. During this time, we will use bilateral stimulation techniques to help you process the memories and reduce their emotional charge. Individualized Experience: It’s essential to recognize that everyone's path through the EMDR process is unique. I will support you every step of the way, adjusting our approach as needed based on your responses and experiences. Questions and Support If you have any questions about the EMDR process or how it can specifically help you, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’m here to provide clarity and support as we embark on this healing journey together.
