Psychotherapist
CA
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you woke up tomorrow morning and everything felt "good"? I want to help you reach a level of contentment and understanding in your life that propels you to experience yourself in a whole new way. My approach to therapy combines a more client-centered stance and psychodynamic theory, striving for the ability to gain more confidence in identifying your authentic self. I have found that my clients enjoy learning more about their family of origin and how that has helped to shape them to be the person they are today. For better or for worse, we may find ourselves stuck in patterns we never knew existed. We may be wondering, "Why isn't what I do working?" or "Why is life so hard?". I want to help my clients grow in their understanding of their world view, and how we can bridge the gap between what they hope for and where they are. I enjoy working with clients who identify as children of immigrants/immigrants themselves. I have a passion for working with young adults who feel their transition to "adulting" has felt like whiplash. I thrive in my sessions with clients who have struggled with their relationship recently, or have been suffering for decades, but never knew why. I really hope to attract the client who is driven and motivated to work through a new way of thinking.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During treatment, I value open and honest communication, while finding compassion and understanding to be a slow process. My goal is to provide a warm and safe space where I can join you as you embark on your therapeutic journey. Whether this is your first time or you've been on the search for a therapist that you can connect with, welcome! I'm so glad you're here! I first started my therapeutic journey when I was a sophomore in college, and felt like I "didn't need therapy". However, as soon as I connected with my first therapist, I knew this was what was missing all my life. I obtained my BS in Health Sciences in hopes that I would become a physical therapist, but soon found out I was more interested in learning about a person's life, rather than focusing on the body manipulations to reduce pain or increase mobility. It was in those experiences, however, that I learned the importance of the mind-body connection and how mental health plays a large role in our overall health.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In my first two sessions, I conduct a thorough intake assessment where I ask you questions about yourself and your background. By our third session, I plan to collaborate with you on a treatment plan to best fit your needs, this season. I, then, check in on those treatment goals periodically to see what goals you feel like you've achieved and what areas you feel may need more growth. During our first session together, I hope to grasp a solid and deep understanding of what you are hoping for in therapy, and I hope to also build a connection with you that will be impactful and enjoyable.
